Rachel has always been “the friend with the camera.” She started carrying a camera regularly as early as middle school. During high school, she took photography as an elective and also assisted as a member on the yearbook staff. After high school, she continued to carry her camera, but only to document her personal life.

After having two children and pregnant with her third, she decided she was tired of letting the hospital photographers take the portraits that would become birth announcements for her children. With the determination to do it herself she invested in a new camera and followed through to create newborn images and a birth announcement. With three children to support she continued to let photography be on the back burner while she pursued her career. When a friend asked Rachel to assist her with photographing a wedding, Rachel was hesitant but excited. During the wedding, she realized how much she enjoyed photographing in this setting and her focus on photography was renewed.

From there Rachel started taking on more clients and honing her art. She has shot weddings for friends, family, and strangers who have become friends and family. Her focus is not merely on capturing beautiful images, but capturing the essence of her clients through those images. This is why Rachel takes the time to get to know each client as a person.

Operating under the philosophy that “a picture may be worth a thousand words, but those words are useless unless they show what makes you unique”; Rachel strives to know each client so that she can capture them in each image. Rachel uses a combination of posed portraits and photojournalism so that you can follow the emotion of each session while still having traditional portraits to share as well.

While Rachel loves weddings and working with couples to capture their once in a lifetime event, she also enjoys watching her clients’ families grow. Milestones such as newborn, first year milestones, child dedications, and senior portraits also hold a special place in Rachel’s heart.

Currently Rachel is taking courses and working towards becoming certified through the Professional Photographers of America. She believes that she always has room to grow as a photographer and is excited for what she can learn next and use to enhance the art she is able to provide to her beloved clients.
